Born and raised in Alabama, and a high school graduate of Alabama’s prestigious School of Math and Science (ASMS), Benji has been programming since the late 1990’s. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, then immediately went to work at Pi-Rod, until it was purchased by Valmont. This changeover resulted in Benji moving to Memphis, Tennessee, working first briefly as a mid-level programmer for ServiceMaster Clean, then for Brother International in their internet group. Benji worked for Brother for about ten years, where he was honored for his expertise by being promoted to a position responsible for designing solutions, mentoring developers, choosing code standards and implementing new technology, all while being given a fair amount of free reign over the IT team’s growth, goals, and direction.
While in Memphis, Benji met and married his loving, talented (and brilliant) wife, Rebekah. He fell in love again when their first child was born in 2007. Now, they have four delightful children, who are a joy to them. He also earned his Master’s degree in Engineering Technology from the University of Memphis.
In 2011, Benji and his father, Ken Sawyer, began Sawyer Solutions, LLC, a company originally created to develop a structural inspection software package. In 2013, Sawyer Solutions, LLC expanded to provide managed IT services, resulting in Benji and family moving to Alabama to work full-time helping businesses with their technology needs. Benji is dedicated to serving his clients with his competent, dependable, and savvy in the IT field.
These days, you will more likely than not find Benji hard at work providing quality IT services and networking with other businesses in the greater-Birmingham area. Benji spends most of his free time with his family, and he also volunteers twice a week in the youth program of the Alabaster Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Once upon a time, he enjoyed other activities, such as skiing, jogging, and gaming and is looking forward to a time when he can enjoy them again.
